i got the new flexplate (DTT) in and fired up the truck and now the truck is shacking a little ... . WTF now..... so we got the trans fluids up to par and i shut off the truck and i hear a loud knock so we started looking with a stethoscope starting and then shutting it off and found the noise is coming for the front of the oil pan so i reached up and grabbed the Harmonic Balancer and i can turn it 3/4 of an inch  so we pulled the RASP off and the the Balancer and found the holes were about 1/4 longer then they should be, so i called cummins and got a new balancer and bolts, $350 later, i think this must be the problem... ... i hope :-laf

has anyone else ever had to replace the Harmonic Balancer????

Scott, If this happens next time you may want to try a Fluidampr. http://www.fluidampr.com/CUMMINS.htm

I had talked to the sales rep at the IRP Diesel Nats and they also have a kit for the Cummins that has a drill plate and dowel pins to add a positive location for the damper.

Moose00 Oo.

Moose00 thanks for the input,

when i pulled it apart i could not believe there was no key-way, cummins had 3 in stock so i think this may be a common problem, a poor design IMO
