Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) harmonic balancer

does anybody know how to tell if your harmonic balancer is seperating? i get this vibration in my steering wheel at 70mph and up. i have checked driveline and it seemes good. tires are new with correct air pressure. it has to do with the engin some how i belive. when i let off the trottle and the converter unlocks the vibration goes away. the trannie was just serviced and only has 20k on it.

If the balancer is seperating you will see that the rubber between the outer and inner parts is either wavey or sticking out or recessed in the groove. The inner part can rotate as well. A bad oil leak in the front of the engine can cause problems with this or too much torque:-laf Shadrach

i wish i knew what my tourqe was at. i just fixed the oil leake on the front of the engin. and thats when it began to happen i guess. after that.

i think i fixed it. i think the berings were going out on the tensioner pulley. we will see if the new one helps
