Competition Dyno types and differences

RE: Horse Power Gains

We have trucks that show horse power results that you are looking for. In fact some of our customers have had to go up in fueling, just because all of their smoke had disappeared and they felt like they were running lean on fuel again. My truck only has a small whisper of smoke when I'm dynoing. You can see my dyno runs at our web site. www.industrialinjection.com Brady has ran a lower horse power but he has not put our injectors in yet and a few other mods that I have done. He is trying to show what can be done with a Super Phat Shaft 66 and a TST/CR box. Edge has also showed good numbers as of late, also with our turbo! But that will be up to them to tell the world about their success with our turbo. But Bradys truck has done 568hp corrected and 510hp uncorrected and at 4600ft elevation. Our numbers have always been on diesel only. We have two trophies, one was from Bandamir at the ATS Truck Fest event. And the other was from the Weekend On The Edge/ Edge event at Rocky Mtn. Race Way. We don't want to brag, we just want to show you that you can do it too and we want to help! My signature shows my last dyno numbers but I think that I'm over 700hp now and will show you the results of my next dyno run in the near future. There is a Super Phat Shaft 66 being installed in a set of twins by a very familiar person that is a TDR member. The results should be interesting. But that will have to come out from him, what results he has seen. Thanks

The PRO 52 is a big laggy turbo to run as a single. To be honest I'm surprised you're able to make it work on a third gen. "Shadow Cummins" down in Texas couldn't make his spool with Mach 5's in a 24 valve and took it off in favor of a SP66. Some of his smoke pictures were unreal.

Scott,I have not tried any other turbos except the stock one. It is slow compared to it but if you are over 1800 rpm it spools fairly fast. If you are already making 10 psi it will go to 55psi almost instant. Judging by all the problems they had with turbos blowing up on third gens I would have to think that the third gens have the best chance at spooling a big turbo.

It takes RPM to spool really big chargers. Third gens as of now are limited to 3500. It's not so much the speed the boost rises that makes them laggy as it is the rpm at which they start to spool. You say 1800, sounds close to me. Mine is alittle smaller starts around 1650 but compare that to the stocker that will make 20 psi at 1400 and you see the diffrence.

Do you hve any kind of external wastegate on that turbo? Have you ever measured the drive pressure?

Scott,I have no wastgate. 55 psi is the most I see out of it. It might come up a bit in the winter. I would like to hook up a gauge to check the drive pressure. Does anyone make a kit to hook up a full time gauge that will show drive pressure or do you use a regular boost gauge and some copper tube?

Regular boost gauge with some copper tube is what most people do. That's how I'll rig mine when the gauge arrives.
