Had their dealer say anything about voiding warranty for installing a Mag Hytec differential cover? I'm wanting to install mine but am concerned doing so could cause warranty problems if I ever need rear end work. I checked my fluid today and thought it looked a little nasty for only having 6000 miles on it, so i figured while I was changing fluid I'd put the new cover on.

Thanks, Duane

I dont think a regular dealer will void your warranty for a diff cover, but I have heard of worse. might want to ask your hometown dealership before you do it.

If that happened........

Then maybe they'd void it for installing a different Radio... ..... or how about a BUMPER sticker!

If you came in for service with a bad rear end and it had little or no fluid or had not been changed in forever, and it had a Mag-Hytec cover, I can see a case for not covering the repair under warranty, but that really wouldn't be any different than if the stock cover was installed. The gray area would be fluids all OK with a Mag-Hytec, but damage to the axle.

Thats kind of what I thought, so I went ahead and installed it tonight. Fliud that came out was sure nasty looking for only having 6000 miles on it, I just got back from a 2000 mile trip to California in the heat. I sure hope the next batch lasts a little longer.

Thanks for the replies.

I just changed my fluid last weekend at 37,000. All fluids looked good, front and rear a little tint put still transparent. nv5600 and transfer case fluid still looked new. I replaced front and rear with Royal Purple 75-90 wt, tranfer case Mobile-1 ATF,and 6SPD with Pennzoil Synchromesh (Thanks,Klenger for the info on Pennzoil Sychromesh). :)

I just replaced my fluid front and rear at around 13,500 miles. Front was nice and clear which is understandable since I don't use four wheel drive all that often.

Rear was cloudy but not really bad looking. Just a little metal "paste" on the magnetic fill plug. Since I tow heavy from time to time I was pleased that the fluid looked as good as it did. First change in my second gen. looked far worse and I was towing a much lighter trailer back then.

I used Mobil 1 75W-90 gear oil.
