2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Has anyone gotten the 3rd gen pwr/heated flip up mirrors on their trucks??

So you did get the 2003 mirrors, that's a start! Now you will need a set of the towing mirrors for our 2nd gen (94-02) trucks and then swap out the mounts. The 2003 mirrors will not fit as is on your truck. Just making sure you're aware of that fact!

I just finished the install this past Saturday. All I can say is



It has probably been one of my best Bombs yet. I got an offer that I couldn't refuse from a friend for the mirrors. The hardest part was getting the springs to remain compressed enough forthe reassembly. I found that tightly twisted mechanics wire does a preety good job. I just took my time with a little patience. The whole conversion took about 8 hours with a few breaks for lunch etc. To solve the rubbing on the mirrors controls on the top drivers side mounting bolt, I changed out the included nut with the captured washer with a metric flat washer and jamb nut. The jamb nut which is about 1/2 the thickness of a standard nut provided the additional clearance required for the back of the switch with no cutting of the stud required.

Guys:



I had the dealer throw them in on the deal when I bought my wife's '03. They were on national backorder for over a month and when they came in, the dealer installed them. Well, my wife don't like 'em and wants me to put the regular mirrors back on. That means, whenever I get the time, I'll get my 3500 setup: I mix up the parts, buy me a contol switch and a heater switch and I'll be cooking with gas.

Ok... I know I asked this before, but are you sure you cannot use the fins from the 98 power heated mirrors??? it looks like it may be possible. . Has anyone tried??? Sorry to keep pestering everyone. The mirrors got here today, and cant wait to get them on!!

I installed towing mirrors on mine a few months ago but have not purchased the 03 set to gut the power components yet.
