Has anyone installed the Painless fuse blocks?

Thanks, TDR Staff

How far from your selling dealer? Try 25,500 km (16,000 mi)!

I an going to install one of these and I'd like to find out if there is a better way to get the "ignition on" signal for the relay on the painless fuse block than using the fuse tab they provide with the kit? This just seems kind of "cheesy" to me. Is there a better place to pull the "ignition on" from?

Also where did you mount it? I was thinking of mounting mine on the fuse panel cover in the engine compartment.

This is in reference to a third gen but it should apply.......I too disliked the cheesy fuse taps, the only one worth a damn is the one below. I used the feed wire for the cigarette lighter to trip my key on for the relays.

I can't remember what series of fuse is used in the 4th gens.....

Here...

I like that as a solution.

the 2014 Ram uses micro fuses. I have been searching on the internet and the fuse taps like that for the micro fuses are few and far between. What most sellers are calling a micro fuse are actually a low profile mini fuses.

I found one on the digikey forum from a company called optifuse that is made in the USA. Unfortunately, they dont sell direct. I have contacted their local distributor to see if they can get it for me.

I have to order a minimum of 5 fuse blocks @ $11.00 each,if anyone wants in, let me know. If 20 are ordered the price goes down to $5 each. Maybe the guys @ Geno's should order a bunch :)

If you are referring to the inline fuse holder in your link above, I will take a couple of them if you can get the 20 @ $5 pricing. Might even consider 4 of them to help get there.

I'd be in as well. Dug around, you are right, they are scarce.

Hey going back to the original subject: Has anyone mounted one of these on a 2014? Where did you put it? Pics?

I wanted something a little more "overbuilt" and this is what I ended up with. The coiled wire will go to the switch panel when I get that fixed up. This panel fits perfectly in the glove box.

It's all powered through this circuit breaker and HD solenoid. The solenoid will be triggered by the cigar lighter.

That's beautiful Firefighter. If you sell to law enforcement, I'll take the next one off the assembly line! For my new 2014...

FYI... I ended up ordering 5 of the micromini fuse taps, they will be delivered in about 3 weeks. I will have 3 extras so lemme know if you want one for $11 + the price of a postage stamp :)

These fuses are available from The Electric Depot or Ram. See this thread for more info. https://www.turbodieselregister.com/threads/246050 I installed my painless kit where the factory AUX fuse block would be on my truck. Made a aluminum L shaped bracket to hold it. Got ignition on power from the cigarette lighter in the center console. Ken Irwin

I just bent a piece of 1/8" aluminum into an L shape, removed the battery to get clearance and drilled two holes in the side of the battery tray to hold it. Not a bad job. Ken Irwin
