I would love to get my hands on one that's long, and comes close to the ceiling, just to be different. . I have seen them on big trucks, and was wondering if anyone makes one for our trucks. .

If you ever do, you best put up some pics up, 'cause that would look HOT! Get a skull and crossbones for the end of it... . :-laf:-laf

I have a stick coming thru my floor, but it isn't one that gets shifted too often... so that would just be plain silly. . and annoying

I had mine lengthened on my 96. Took an 8" x 1/2" stainless bolt, drilled and tapped the hex head end to match the metric threads for the shift knob, added a set nut and a 6" straight shift knob (big truck shift knob was 1/2" threads). I heated and bent the added extension to fit in all gears. I've since deleted the extension but kept the staight knob.

I think there are some pictures of the shorter and bent stick I made for mine in my old gallery, if you like my work and want me to build you something we could probably talk as long as you aren't in a huge hurry.

Like This shot below????

Its taken looking into the interior of "Inferno" the Chrome Shop Mafia's tow rig. TWO roof high sticks for the 6x4 transmission which are slick looking. I am not sure how they would look if properly done in one of our rides but in a chopped, dropped and slammed large unit they are sweet... ... ... Andy

OR maybe this one...

Taken looking into the "Rollin Transport" ride built for a customer by the Chrome Shop Mafia. Again another 6x4 in a lowered, slammed and sweet looking Pete with one of the best sound systems I have ever heard from a large car... ... . Andy

I'm with Ryan on this one... ... ... ... ... WHY? I guess I am just an old fuddy-duddy. I fail to see the "coolness". Looks like a safety hazard to me.

Maybe they're trying to make up for a short shifter somewhere else? :-laf Sorry, but nobody said it, so I had to..... ;)

I'm not a professional truck driver but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Expess last night:-laf No really I have driven a few trucks over the years, my brother drives for a living and I use to go with him when I was younger and he would let me drive when I was a little too young, anyways I can't imagine driving with the seat slammed to the floor barely able to see out the door and the sticks in the air.

Which truck are you looking to do it on? If it's the second gen I could use mine as a pattern, I could probably do it as long as you weren't in a big hurry.

Something to keep in mind is that the stock shift levers are rubber isolated so anything that you make will make a little noise. The lever I made for my truck rattles a little sometimes and it's worse when your hand is on it.

I know I have some one inch Stainless at the house and I may have some 3/4 inch. The stick in the pictures is 5/8 or 3/4". I have to finish getting my lathe set-up and I need to get some gas for welding the stainless because I don't have the access to the machine shop at this job like I did with the old one.

Wow, Tim, I love that shifter!

Are those boots original? That's the kind of boot I really want for my truck (to replace the fake leather bootie thing).
