I got one on e bay its black but the paint on these valve covers likes to peel and come off

I was hoping to save the paint but no luck

I may take it to a body shop and see what they say

thanks Oo.

Powder coated a set that I bought - the individual valve covers are aluminum.

I'm in the process of polishing the one I got off of E-bay. I took it to a machine shop and had them mill off the Dodge name and engrave it for me, how do you like it so far? :-laf

I'd be willing to bet None of us have painted a CumminGs valve cover. Sorry... I'm no help!

I'd use some light sand paper and clean up what has peeled and tape off what you don't want paint on. Then just use High Temp engine enamel.

I had some never dull and i'm working on it with

it may clean up to the point where it looks ok where I don't need to paint it

a block of wood and some lite sand paper on the unpainted parts

I used hand cleaner to get all the old oil off then the never dull now sandpaper and a block of wood we will see how it works out

thanks for all the input

I was thinking of getting my powdercoated. The cheap and easy way would be to get some aircraft stripper to get all the old paint off, than sand everything to make it nice and smooth and than lay on some high temp engine paint.

I'm confused... Does this make it go faster, handle better, or stop sooner?

All of the above :-laf

The easiest way is to do as mentioned, chem strip, clean up with carb cleaner, and paint to the color of your choice. You can take a block of wood and some sand paper, after paint has cured and remove the paint from the ribs and other high areas to reveal the aluminum underneath . . . ;)

It's Cumming Rite Along With A Block Of Wood And 400 Grit I Had

I'm Just Going To Clean It Up And Put It On It Not Bad At All

Its The Black One

Thanks

WE ARE DONE WITH IT AND MAN DOES IT SHINE IT LOOK BLACK AND CROME

THEY WILL SHINE UP LIKE CROME YOU CAN SEE YOUR SELF IN THE SHINE

DO i NEED TO SEAL IT WITH SOMETHING ?

THANKS

I would take it and have it anodized clear, any clear coat you could spray on would not hold up well to the heat. If you don't coat it somehow it will start to oxidize, aluminum gets white scale on it when it oxidizes.
