I 4" straight Piped and Removed Cat On my 07 Mega but left the Resonator. Has a Drone when going to 3rd to 4th, other than that its not that bad even towing my tow hauler. Is the drone unbearable if the resonator is removed? And does the sound change? thanks

I think leaving the cat and going straight pipe after that is the ticket legality wise and sound wise. I seriously doubt that little resonator is doing anyhting with the cat and the muffler removed.

Mine isn't a Mega, but same wheelbase, cat and straight pipe. Sounds great, no drone, hardly any extra noise at cruise, even with a big load. Sings when you get on it though.

Pretty brave living in CA and removing the cat:eek:

I left the resonator on my buddies mega cab. Talk about a deep runmble. Even after we went with stacks in the bed, we moved the resonator up. It does make a BIG difference. Goes from a very deep tone, to a high pitched popping tone with it removed.

I'm sure the sound of the exhaust is the same since you have the same wheel base, but the drone would be alot different inside a mega compaired to a 4 door. Not worried about removing cat, my 24 valve was 3 times as loud and never had a problem. It's a chance i take, Your going to stick out to a cop more with blownin black smoke than having the cat off.

I hacked my resonator off when I installed my Diamond Hitch gooseneck hitch. Hitch instructions said to just clock it over a bit to clear the crossmember but I just decided to hack it off and put a turn-down tip off the muffler. Made a slight difference in sound but not louder by any means.
