I used to have the Bosch 275s, VA, DD Boost Module and Banks wastegate actuator (pre Big Head) set to 28 psi and had virtually no smoke! Many NW BOMBers can attest to that.

I removed the VA and Bosch 275s in favor of the DD3s... I'm still glad I made that decision. A little smoke, but not objectionable. One thing I noticed, after replacing the DD wastegate fitting (with bleed orifice) with the OE brass elbow AND Banks Big Head wastegate actuator, my boost came up quite a bit faster. #ad
I should also point out that was at the same time I installed my ATS exhaust manifold and Banks 14 cm2 turbine housing.

Recycle Bin: Prime-Loc fuel filter relocation kit (due to flow restriction), Bosch 275s & VA CPC (upgraded to DD3s... WOW! what a difference!), '00 Dodge/Cummins valve cover (going back to my OE '98. 5 valve cover... tricked out though), VDO Vision gauges (upgraded to $PA gauges. . three of 'em... where's that #ad
when you need it? LOL)

Kent , I'm running the VA ,275 RV,s , and PS boost module.

99 3500 QC, white, 5sp, 3. 55lsd, isspro EGT & boost, 48,000 miles 11-11-00- (EX phord owner) 15-16. 5 MPG hwy ,14-15 city , 10-12 with 4,000lb TT
1500 - 3000 in 4th = 13 sec
VA,1500- 3000 in 4th = 10 sec
275,1500 - 3000 4th = 11. 15 sec
slight mpg increase both ways.
VA+275 ,1500 - 3000 = 9. 0 sec
. 5 or 1. 5 MPG increase over stock. .
PS boost module,100 to 150 lower EGT's, same power.

I used a VA and DD boost module and elbow with my DDI's for a little while. It seemed to me that I got 1. 5 - 2 mpg worse than just with the DDI's. Sold my VA to my brother in law and bought a HOT PE. I love my setup, great on fuel and power when I need it. I run with it off most of the time.

With DDI and the VA the trottle was very sensitive, not good off road.

The good ole days...

:) This thread is a great blast from the past!

:) The ole green monster's drive train is still going strong at just over 90K.

I fear I have a 300K engine in my 100K dodge but such is life on a bumpy dirt roads of Vermont.

:( Front end is a disaster waiting to happen, rust is showing under the truck and anywhere the mud flaps did not protect the paint. Still having water problems under the carpet.

Most recent interesting discovery was getting a fuel filter with a smaller basket. The local parts guy sold me a filter for my truck and after I pulled mine and tossed it in the trash I discovered the new filter had a smaller basket... . So, I had no choice but to give it a try... .

This new filter has removed some of the stumble that I was dealing with under heavy acceleration. In the past a new filter was not making too much difference.

I have to wonder if the smaller basket is some how helping the still stock original lift pump move more fuel into the filter canister??? Yes Steve, I have not changed it yet. . 100K extended warranty will be up in a few months...
