Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Has anyone tried bending their own injector lines?

Well, I have finally had time to put on the new Hellmann intake, but the number 3 injector line doesn't quite fit around one of the intake tubes.



I have tweaked the stock line pretty good to the point where I think it might be weak in a couple places, so I think I should get another line.



Called Cummins today and they want $83 for another line (not as bad as I was expecting). I also called Industrial Injection and they said they could get the injector line as a straight piece. So I thought I might try bending my own to fit. I have bent brake line before, but I know this stuff is much thicker and a standard bending tool probably won't cut it.



Has anyone bent their own lines and had success.

Did you lose your grid heaters with that?

I don't have grid heaters anymore.



Does anyone have any tips on the best tubing bending benders, and tips. I'm thinking about buying one from Eastwood for this job. The tubing bender that I have won't handle the thick tubing.

That intake looks like a takeoff on the Banks Twinram. I realize you said you got rid of yours, but I echo the question about the grid heaters: Is it possible to retain them with that intake?

Grid Heaters

Srath-

I decided to go without the grid heaters. You cannot use grid heaters with this intake. I have a sweet (POS) 1989 Oldsmobile that I drive when it gets cold.

Wiring on the firewall

When I decided to go without the grid heaters it allowed me to clean up the wiring. I bought powerbraid (I think that is what it is called) from Painless Wiring. I separated each wiring harness, then wrapped it with the coiled black stuff. I got it from Metro Electronics in Sacramento by the foot.



I got the stainless clamps from McMaster Carr. I was introduced to this company by my local ACE hardware store owner. He told me that they have everything from tampons to Kevlar, which is pretty much true. By the way, I LOVE McMaster Carr's website. Anything and everything for someone with a project.

Thanks, Archie. I just wanted to know if no heaters were your choice or mandatory. That is a good looking intake and I'll bet it works well, too. Too bad heaters can't be used with it. Winter is when I need my truck most.
