Has anyone used/converted an air actuated exhaust brake for use on our trucks?

brother in law got a "too good to be true" deal on a 5" exhaust brake ...

instructions state "for ISB 5. 9 engines"

it is air actuated and we were trying to figure out a more convenient way of installing ...

any thoughts?

I'm not sure I follow. Most are air actuated w/either vacuum or pressure. The only electric one I know of is US Gear so you might start by looking to see if they some parts that will work on it.

If it's 5" it's inline. I don't know of any ISB's with factory 5" exhaust.

Air operated is pretty standard on the larger brakes and really the best way to go IMHO. Buy a small compressor and tank and a $40 solenoid and hook it up. I've done a couple like this and it isn't too expensive.

If it is going on a ISB I would get a hold of someone from pac brake and get the compressor and control valve for a truck applacation. The trucks computer has the logic to control the exhaust brake. I used a in line on my old truck and made my own control system. It was on a 12 valve so no computer control for the brake, had to use a "switch" on the go peddle.

If you want to do your own you'll need a compressor, a LOW WATT control valve, and a working knowledge of pneumatics and automotive electrical.

I am not sure of the pin out in this
