It hasn't effected me that much, but from someone with less disposable income it is a big deal. Generally I sit down and plan 4-5 trips a year. Camping, hunting, and just a little vacation with the family. I can tell you my fuel costs have doubled since I bought my pickup. Diesel was 1. 35 when I bought my truck 4 years. I sure can't say that anymore.

For those that could go only a few times, they might not be able to go at all now. I don't shoot as much as I used too. Costs have gone up, and its one of my hobbies that I decided to limit. I don't starve, but I do have to pick and choose what I do with my money, where I used to be pretty care free. Do what I want when I wanted, things have changed now.

Fortunatly, I live in an area where I can camp in many different places all within a 20 mile radius, so it will not affect me too much. It is primative camping and it usually entails 4 wheeling to get to secluded spots.

I did this for the past 5 years with a Wildernest Topper... now I have a nice pop- up TC so "roughing it" will not be the same :D .

We are full-timers and live in our RV. What saves us is that we are still working, not retired. We usually sit still at a contract anywheres from 3 to 6 months, so, other than commutting from the trailer to the hospital, our expenses are not that great. When we hook up to the beast and pull 800 or 1200 miles or more to another contract, that is when we feel the pinch.

Right now, we are in a small town at the east end of the Grand Canyon. We are parked in an RV park here, and it comes close to filling up on the weekends. Still lots of people out there travelling so far.
