Last night, at about 1am the horn on my 04 started blowing non stop. It blew for about an hour . I lay in bed wondering what idoit is allowing this to happen and not doing anything to stop it. My truck is in my shop about a hundred yards behind the house and the sound seemed to be coming from about a half mile or so down the road. As I lay in bed wondering if I should call the cops or take a walk to see whats going on,( had visions of someone slumpped over the wheel) two squad cars drive buy slowly then stop and pull in the drive. I get up and dressed and meet them as they come to the door. As I go outside it be comes obvious that the noise is coming from the shop. The cops where cool and we shared a good laugh as I told them that I was just about to call them. I went out and pounded on the steering wheel acouple of times and the horn stopped. Decieding not to take any chances I grabbed a wrench and started un hooking the batteries, before I could finish the horn came on again. What is causing this to happen? I do not have an alarm system, The front wheels are off as I'm getting ready to install lock out hubs so its not like someone would be trying to steal it. I'm afraid to hook the batteries up now and I wondering if it has an effect on the computer leaving the batteries un hooked for an extended length of time? Still waiting for the hub kit to arrive. Any suggestions ? Thanks, Doug

Several others (not me) have had this happen on their 3rd Gen.

The good news: It's just the horn switch.

The bad news: The horn switch is part of the airbag and is not serviceable separately according to the service manual.

Do not yank the fuse! My truck had the same problem, even with the fuse out it still draws some power and will kill the batterys.

Just be thankful that it didn't do it in traffic like mine did. Let me tell ya I recieved more than a few dirty looks that day.

My truck sometimes sits parked at the airport for 1 to 3 weeks at a time, so I can't see how unhooking the batteries could cause any problem.

Could be worse. My Dad's pickup has an airhorn under the hood. Imagine that thing going off on it's own in city traffic. :D
