Hauling a 28' car trailer with a shortbed

Looking into getting a enclosed car trailer , a 28 ' would be nice but not sure how the 139" wheelbase shortbed truck would tow this setup as far as stability ( swaying at highway speed )

Anyone with this setup please give me your opinion as to what would be the best length trailer 24' 26' or 28'

I use to tow a 28' enclosed car hauler with a tri-axle set-up and a short wb truck. I never had any problems with sway, I think that is more of a product of proper hitch set-up. The nice thing about the short wb is the quick turning when backing, it kind of helps in tight spots. You might want to consider the three axle set-up, it makes the trailer very stabile, and having all three axles with brakes, the thing stops great. Run a good weight distributing hitch, along with a sway bar. Mine never had a problem, but that would be a night mare having a long trailer/short truck with a sway issue. I can tell you one thing. My 01 pulled our 32' travel trailer nicely powerwise, but when it came to stability it left you with white knuckles. The trailer had a slight angle to it from the tongue being too high. The salesman that sold us the trailer told me that I needed more drop and that would take care of the issues I was having. I never had a chance to correct the height.

I'm leaning towards the "Classic" brand the XT Dominator a really well built trailer w/ tandem 5,200 lb axles . I may just split the coin and go with a 26' would just like to hear some opinions.

You should be fine with the right hitch set-up, makes all the difference in the world. I towed a 32' haulmark tandem axle, used a distributing hitch w/one sway bar, a little sway upon wind like passing bus or semi. I added another sway bar ( both were the simple clamp down style ) you could haul a** with no sway, just loosen before tight turns or backing. I would tighten on the on ramp to expressway and loosen on the off ramp. I have since switched to a 26' 5th with a 12'enclosed tagged to the back (with one sway bar) this thing hauls great other than rocking over bridges and the like. I would price a 5th or goose ball, it would be worth it once you haul it, tags just dont pull anything like a bed mount trailer. sorry for the long reply, but sway bars are awsome on tags, cant stress it enough.
