Best enclosed trailer?

B & W turnover ball hitch

I have been hauling cattle locally on weekends and occasion. I'm getting a new 24 ft stock trailer and might be able to get some longer distance hauls. Is it best to charge by the loaded mile or a flat rate on the trip? What kind of rate by the mile? Any input would be appreciated.

I think by the loaded mile is best. Not sure what to charge to move cattle. We mostly move trailers and cars. The rates are quite a bit different between the two. Some places start out at $1. 50 per loaded mile to move a travel trailer and if the customer is a frequent customer the rate may go down to $1. 00 per loaded mile. On the other hand cars pay about 1/2 as much but you can haul more than one car. I don't really think this is fair because it is costing more to move the combined weights of the cars than a single trailer. I think cars should pay $1. 25 per car per loaded mile. But all the companies moving cars out there have basically cut each others throats by lowering prices trying to compete with each other.

If I'm towing for a buddy it's usually cost of fuel plus a little, other than that I charge $1. 00 to 1. 75 a loaded mile, all depends on what I'm hauling, for who and how long I'm going to be on the road... I've been towing cars quite a bit latley and making some extra cash... :-laf
