First off, Do you guys use anything on the gaskets? I was thinking if I use anything it would be "The Right Stuff" by permatex. Second what did you do to prime the Oil pump? Third Did you use a special oil for break in or just run the 15/40?

Im sure I will need something else Oo. before this thing is done.

Thanks in advance.

I did not use anything on any gasket. So far so good. I forgot to prime the oil pump, I talked to an engine expert I trust on these engines and he said, prime the filter, don't worry too much about the pump. I primes itself really fast.

Another thing is should I go with the 3gsk or 4gsk springs? What about the AFC springs?

Pros and cons of each 3 and 4 K? and is Piers the only place to get them?

Generaly never put anything on a head gasget , refure to the gasget manu. recomenddations , as for other gasgets that verys , I used to use a gasget adheisive from permatex , but I have not been able to find for some yrs.
then when ever parts/gasgets coming to corners a small dab of sillycone .
When assembly of parts there are differant lubes , assembly lube for parts like bearings [ a thin white paste ] lifters use assembly lube that is more like STP [ a very viscose oil ] rings a none detergent motor oil - also in crankcase for breakin , with the gasers when they still had distributors , I would make up a extended drive that would go inplace of the distributor [ becouse the dist. was driven off the cam & the dist. would drive the oil pump ] this was with a oil pressure gauge hooked up so you could verify that everything was good to go [ some times while putting in the cam bearings they may block an oil passage ] but unless your moding the eng for cam bearings , I would find a way to put oil pressure in as close to the pump as possible then gauge at the end of the oil jornals path .

I usually just coat the barrings in assembly lube when you put it together and when you go to start it leave the fuel off and crank it for a second until oil pressure comes up on the gauge. Haven't had a problem doing it this way yet.
