Generaly never put anything on a head gasget , refure to the gasget manu. recomenddations , as for other gasgets that verys , I used to use a gasget adheisive from permatex , but I have not been able to find for some yrs.
then when ever parts/gasgets coming to corners a small dab of sillycone .
When assembly of parts there are differant lubes , assembly lube for parts like bearings [ a thin white paste ] lifters use assembly lube that is more like STP [ a very viscose oil ] rings a none detergent motor oil - also in crankcase for breakin , with the gasers when they still had distributors , I would make up a extended drive that would go inplace of the distributor [ becouse the dist. was driven off the cam & the dist. would drive the oil pump ] this was with a oil pressure gauge hooked up so you could verify that everything was good to go [ some times while putting in the cam bearings they may block an oil passage ] but unless your moding the eng for cam bearings , I would find a way to put oil pressure in as close to the pump as possible then gauge at the end of the oil jornals path .
