Well, sorry it took soo long to dyno. Right after I made this post, my PE4200 went out and I had to wait awhile until I could get it replaced with a FASS system. This was my first experience with a dyno, so things didn't go as smoothly as I wanted them to. First, the dyno with located at a performance Ford shop. There was nothing there but Lightnings and mustangs. Second, the dyno guys had never dynoed a six speed diesel before. The problem with that was that I had read on TDR that the best gear to dyno in is sixth. I told them this and they said that they wouldn't recommend running it in overdrive. So they said fifth would be better. While I was talking with them about this, my buddy asked the owner what the best torque number was on this dyno. The owner said that his Lightning with 2 stages of nitrous had made 842ft torque. My buddy told him that that number was about to be beat. They all laughed at him and said that he was insulting him especially since my truck was just a six cylinder. Well they did the first run in fifth gear and it put down 396hp and 707ft torque. Needless to say I was not happy. I asked them again if they would run it in sixth and they said that they still didn't recommend it, but they said after one more run in fifth, they would do the last run in sixth. Well the next run put down even less 393hp and 697ft. torque, I think because it was really hot in there and the truck was getting hot. Finally they did the last run in sixth and it put down 429hp and 910ft. torque! The owner said that he couldn't believe it! The only thing that made me mad was that if they would have run it in sixth the first time, I would probably have had even better numbers because I lost 3hp and 10ft torque between the first and second run! But to make a long story short the closet to quess my numbers is NPloysa. Thanks for all of the participants.

skewed results?

Would running it in 6th with overdrive gearing falsify those numbers? Don't get me wrong... I have no idear... But it sounds odd that it would jump that much by going to an overdriven gear combo? I ask because I too have a 6spd and always dyno in 5th etc.

Maybe it was able to make more 'boost' in 6th due to the engine seeing more 'load' as it would be at less of a mechanical advatage spinning the dyno in high gear??? Interesting!

The numbers are right. The guy at the dyno called a buddy of his that works at a local Dodge dealership and asked him what 1 to 1 gear ratio is on the trucks and he told him that it was 6th gear. And as we all know, the gear with 1 to 1 ratio is the gear that you dyno in.
