Have an on-site fuel tank?

If so, you might want to check the condition of the hose.

Mine developed a crack where it was laying on the ground and started siphoning fuel out of the tank onto the driveway. Didn't think this could happen! Apparently I had kinked the hose after the pump was shut off, or else I would have gotten a bath.

This is one time I'm glad that my wife is sensitive to diesel odor. She sent me hunting for the source of the smell. Could have drained all 300 gallons instead of only a couple.

I just recently replaced all my hose.

You can never be too careful.

I had the same problem on my 1000 gallon tank about 20 years ago. It was farm grade hose, switched to the commercial grade that costs twice as much, it's still on there. Guess you get what you pay for.

Where did you buy the commercial hose? I have a new replacement, but commercial sounds safer.

I bought Goodyear Flexsteel Hose from my fuel supplier, Cenex.

Grainger also sells it. You can even run over it without crushing it. When my Ag hose decided to leak I have no idea how much fuel I lost but it was able to run about 20 feet down a gravel road.

After 20 years when rain/snow melt puddles the area the water still has a rainbow sheen to it.

On my tank I put a valve at the hand pump then ran the hose to the three filter Racore filter system from the valve . I keep the valve closed at all times . I keep the hose and the nozzle rolled up and I build a box and put over the hoses and the filter system to keep the sun off . I sure like that $1. 24 gallon fuel that I am burning right now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
