They do look pretty simple for $425. I remember reading somewhere that 2nd gen. back seats will fit into 1st gens. ???

Maybe one of those could be cheaper(from a junk yard) and look better?

This hurts my pride to say but....

... the best looking seat setup I have seen in a 1st generation truck came out of a '88+ GM truck  in one of the local auto wrecker's personal trucks . The rear bench was almost a perfect fit width and height wise. He also used the matching front buckets and center console. Of course there was some bracket fabrication to make them fit... . but they did look good once they were there.

And there should be lots at the wreckers now (read cheap cheap cheap! :p )

Another thought anyways.

Hey PW,

That is exactly what I have in my 1st Gen. It is functional but the one thing I did not like was the back-rest part. It is secured by a heavy 3" by full length velcro strip. After about 3 years the summer heat weakened the adhesive and it came loose when I tried to remove it for cleaning. You also need to have someone sit in the back to make sure and 'place' it correctly, otherwise it hits you in the back either too high or too low.

I just did a post on the name, model etc. recently. If you want specifics let me know I'll email it to ya straight away.

Regards, bob.

I don't have a shop to work in, nor the stuff to do fabrication... I'd have to pay somebody to do that stuff, so I'm looking to find a solution that's pretty much bolt-in or at least pre-fabricated.

NO, I don't have a truck... YET...

But here's one I'm looking at:

I'll need a bench seat in the front, instead of buckets, too.

Truck Twin!

Power Wagon, that's as near a twin to my truck as I have seen! Good luck getting it, mine runs fine.

Seats

Has anyone tried a 40/20/40 seat out of a 2nd gen dodge club cab. That would be great if the fit. They would be a little harder to find but it would probably be worth it. I have the split bench in my truck. After 200,000 mi it is starting to sag a bit on the driver's side and if I could find a different kind of seat cheap I would swap it.

How about it? Is anyone out there interested in making up some brackets / mounting kits to put a real bench seat in in the 91-93 trucks?

That seat from Canada seems overpriced / under built for the money... .

It seems to me that if we could find something easy to find and fits, that a few people would buy mounting kits who, like me, don't have the means of fabricating these things...

Personally my favorite rear seat is the old Ford type bench that could fold down into a flat steel deck.

Fabbing brackets shouldn't be too hard, but I don't have a "model" to work with. A prototype or a small number I could handle, don't have the time to produce in numbers.

1st Gen Rear Bench Seat

I too have been looking to solve this problem. JHansen was saying that he thought 88+ Chevy seats fit with some bracket mods. I found an outfit selling these for $225 on Ebay. Brand new and come in a variety of colors.

Go to Ebay and search for "rear bench seat"

Not the ideal being Chevy:eek: but the price is good and the quality seems to be better that anything else out there. The other possible viable alternative is to find some 2nd gen seats.

Anyone else with ideas or feedback?

I think so

There was a guy who used to be on this board - v6power87. He may still be for all I know. But he had his first Gen for sale here in WA state a while back. It was a 93 but had 96 seats in it. Not sure how easy it was to do but apparently it has been done.

I will see if he is still a member, and if so send him a PM and ask him.

Ken

EDIT:

Actually I found the thread where he mentioned it. The previous owner had done the work. Here is the URL:

Not sure how to embed links to other threads in my message... .
