Last week I stopped by this house I always seen a window repair van at. Talked to the guy turns out he went out on his own. said something about being "laid off in winter is for the birds". So, me being a nice guy and all and seeing he looked like he could use the work, gave him the job of replacing my windshield (stone chip/crack). He shows up today in his little Toyota truck and begins the job. I notice he left it running and thought that it was strange or maybe he is real fast. I watch him begin, he's a little rough with stuff so I pitch in. I then hear what sounds like someone pulling in my drive. I look up to see him running towards his truck. You guessed it it rolled into the back of my truck. Turns out he left it running to warm up the black stuff they use to glue the windshields in. There is a little scratch in my bumper now. I am not too awfully upset, since someone had already "hit and run" me in a parking lot and left a little dent in it. Anyways,Oh Well!

I'm not done yet. He asked me to help him with putting the windshield in,so I obliged, thinking I better help before he does something else. We get the windshield up lay it in, AND IT IS THE WRONG WINDSHIELD! It is for an 02'! UGH! I have to work tonight, these are the jobs that I had to cancel the other night because I thought my truck was stuck in 4WD(not! it is bad bad axle joints). He cant get another windshield delivered until late tonight. So tomorrow he will return. What do you get for trying to help someone out. Screwed! Now I have to ask a friend to borrow his truck. I just cant win!

Wow,that is some story, hope you get it all worked out.

I have done this too with a roofer,he did a great job on the roof, but he had to take the siding off on the dormers on all four sides of the house because the last company who did the roof stuffed it up under the siding, well he mixed all the pieces up so not the siding is to short in some places and he cut the other pieces to fit so I am screwed on that because none will fit now, needless to say,I should have went with the company I wanted, but I listened to someone elses recomendation for this guy and now I am paying for it... ARG

Why ask your friend for his truck when you can just drive yours. Who needs a front windshield anyhow. . just get your self a pair of these. .

Just don't follow any dump trucks. . you don't want any rocks hitting your face  :-laf

I had seen he worked for Safelite and Visions glass repair companies so I figured I would give him a chance. You know help the little guy. This should have clued me something was wrong. I seen those two different vans parked in his yard in just the last year and a half. I wasnt trying to save money, cause all I have to pay is my deductable($100). I learned a lesson today, that is for sure.

Probably more to his story too. Like competing with the boss, or permanently borrowing tools???

I don't lay off good employees in the off season.

I fire the bad ones before!!!
