I purchased a set of 17" power wagon wheels (cause I like the look) for my 2018, it came with the 18" Firestone Transforce LR 124 and now I am searching for something in the 17" tire to work. Seems I should have researched more (wish I had a nickel for every time I said that), cause it appears LR 121 is the best I can find in the 17" size. My truck is a regular cab though and maybe the LR 121 will be enough for me? I don't tow or haul heavy, but I also don't want to proceed with the 17" route if it will cause problems latter. Should I sell the PW wheels and go with something like the AEV 18" wheels and another 18" tire?

You can get 17's in a higher load rating you just may need to go up to a little bigger tire? Assuming you are looking for a street only tire and not a AT? Nitto has a dura grappler in 285/70-17 that is 126R and a 285/75-17 at 128R just as an example

17’s anemic load rating is why I ran 19.5’s on my 05.

It’s very easy to overload a 121 if you tow/haul anything. It might not be as bad with a reg cab, but it’s still a lower rating than I’d personally own.

BFG K02's are not bad... I'm running a set of them on my new work van. They have a lot of offerings in the 17" size in D and E range. They are very quite at freeway speeds.

But still a LR of 121.

Are these wheels going on a 2500 or 3500?
The 17's will be fine unless you are really towing/hauling heavy.
Had 17's on my 2012 F250 and towed just as heavy as I do now with no issues and no overloading.
You just have to be aware of what you're doing.

Thanks for the advise, I like the Nitto Dura Grappler.

18's definitely have more capacity and there are more options, but Since you said you dont tow or haul heavy I dont see why you wouldnt be fine. They are an option on your truck after all.....

17" tires have become the unwanted step child of tires. I think 3195 is the highest rated tire available. Find a set of 18" take offs. I think the Laramie like this one is the best looking newer RAM wheel.

The OP has yet to state whether 2500 or 3500.
2500 has a rear axle weight rating of 6500 pounds, so a pair of 17's at 3195 each will only be 110 below that, hardly anything to worry about.

Federal bridge weight regulations go by the tread width. Talk to a hotshot hauler, not internet weight police.

You may run into issues at some tire stores if the tires don’t meet the load capacity for the truck.

Its a 2500, and I very seldom haul anything, but I do not want to put something lightweight on any truck. Like the fact that the Nitto Dura Grapplers are LR128, they seem to have good reviews so for now since I already have the wheels think I will go with them. Discount tire seems to have the full Nitto line which is another plus for me. Thanks all for your replies!

I too use the Nitto Dural Grapplers on my truck. The size that I use is LT285/70R/17 with a rating of 126R. I have no fitment issue with these tires at all. I do not know how they work in the snow since I swap them out for the factory size tires that I use in the winter.
