I have this code in computer "P0633 SKIM Key Not Programmed in PCM" not sure what it is telling me.

My OBDII scanner does not see this code, I assume that it is a DC specific code. Does anyone know what causes this and/or how to clear it.

Thanks,

If the truck starts and runs, ignore the code. Sounds like you might have had a flash done in the past.

Po633 code also

My 2004. 5 also issued this P0633 code. I have approx. 2100 miles on the truck and it just happened a couple of days ago ... still starts and runs good. I really wanted to clear the code with a code scanner but havn't made it over to Autozone yet. Does anyone know what would cause this "security key" fault to happen?

thanks,

Lmoore24,

I have a Novus OBDII scanner that does not see this code and will not clear it. I cleared other generic codes, but not this one. I am going to the dealer today and see what caused it.

I will let you know what they say.

do the battery trick, but you have to do it on both batteries. if it comes back, it is a problem. if not, it was just a glitch in the system and is an invisible problem now. :D

Ok, stopped at the dealer and showed them the code.

The tech that does codes said that this is a soft code and is only to provide history of an actual problem. The code "P0633 SKIM Key Not Programmed in PCM" means that at some point something interferred with the Key Chip starting the vehicle. This could have been anything from radio waves to sun spots.

He said that to clear the soft code would need to reset all codes and history. He said that they dont recommend this because if problems keep happenig the history stored will help determine if/when replacement of components should be done.

He said if I insist he will reset all codes. I said that I will leave it for now.

That's what I know, not sure that I learned anything.

Thanks, That's kind of what I thought. When I purchased my truck, I had the dealer install the "grey key" security system. When this code appeared a couple of weeks later, I assumed it had something to do with that. I'll try the battery disconnect reset method and go from there. Thanks again for the post.

same here, I had the grey "sentry" key installed after the factory...

And I have had this code since that day... But it still works as designed, the truck will not start with the old black key

so, whatever

The battery thing will not clear this stored code. That can only be done with a system reset of stored history.

I left the batteries off for ove two hours.
