2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Have you installed your own lift kit? I have a question for you!

I need to get the front jounce bumpers off of the frame. (The rubber axle stops. ) I don't see any fasteners or holes to get to the bolts that hold them on. Where are they bolted on?

they are not bolted on, tey are held in by the 4 dimples in the sides of the cup, and the cup is welded to the frame.

He is correct, Just grap the rubber bumpers with some channel locks and twist them out. If intalling new urethane or rubber one in the stock pockets, spray some WD-40 and they go in easier.

If you are using a Rancho Kit where you have to drill thru the stock poket to bolt in the new bump stop mount, just be careful to drill straight and level. I have found it easier to drill the outside then use a punch to flatten the tab back smooth with the back side before trying to drill thru...

I hit mine with a hammer a couple of times and they came right off.

Just reach in there with both hands and work it back and forth. To reinstall get a small floor jack and stick it between the axle and bumpstop with a block of wood and press it (or i should say jack it) up into place will pop right in no need for screws or bolts. jeff

I have a Mag-Hytek front dif cover to install. I also have a Lindstead trac bar repair end installed which reduces the clearance by 3/4" I installed 2" front spring spacers to get the truck to sit level (and get clearance for the cover) and I was going to put a 3/4" spacer between the stop and the frame so I could install my cover without the trac bar hitting it.



I suppose I could install some other stops but I know how far the stock ones compress (not much) and the Ranchos look real soft.

When I put a 2" spacer in the front, I left my bump stops alone, but I did not have the diff cover either and I use a Moog Track bar so if itgoes bad... I get a new one for freee...
