... ... ..... the 6. 7L engine problem reports seem to have disappeared.

I'm not naive enough to believe that there will not be more but after a rush of complaints a couple months back the reported problems seem to have disappeared.

Yeah the guy's that bought the 07. 5 trucks seam to be the one's with all the problem's I think I have seen 2 or 3 08 truck's maybe with troubles and to me a couple of them could of been operater problem's

Yep..... I am betting they have discovered what was causing the problems and made the needed corrections ..... Sweet..... !!!

grasmo,

What has happened to your truck? Has it settled down and begun running right, not causing anymore grief? At one time you were talking about lemon-lawing it weren't you?

Yes I am still in the process. It had a new turbo installed last trip in to the dealer and it runs better however it still runs goofy and c. e. l. comes on and off at random. I recently experienced an episode where the truck wanted to run like a race car ,I mean it would haul _ss but it would only do it randomly, also the exhuast brake works now extremely well. However it is at random also. The truck has 16k on it now and I swear it is alarming how much power it has at random. I hope to get a response from the manufacturer within 2-3 more weeks ... according to correspondence from the atty. I have an excellent case for lemon law ... . they have notified the manufacturer and the manufacturer will be making me an offer within 6-8 weeks ... . that was 4-5 weeks ago. They said they handle cases exclusively and that the mfr. will make its first offer to buy the truck back minus mileage (as sag2 had said. They will automatically refuse this offer. Because the mfr. knows these attys. are going to charge the fr. atty. fees they will"work very quickly to make a second offer of a new truck equal to mine,of course I will keep the equity that I have in my truck. If they advise me to refuse this offer the third offer will be to give me a full refund for my truck plus refund me for any accessories that have been installed on the truck, if I provide receipts . I hope that the attys. have been honest w/ me. I am hopeful and patient. I know cummins is the bomb and I have not lost faith, I just realize that I have gotten a truck with some problems that have not been repaired in a reasonable number of attempts. Sorry for the long post.

grasmo,

It would seem that if Cummins or Dodge or the two together have found how to make the '08s trouble free that they could go back and make minor corrections to an '07. 5 and make it trouble free also.

yep, it appears that this last re-flash of software updates the '07. 5 to the '08 image which is solid.

My mechanisc is telling me all the trucks are still coming with the older versions of software. I had my 07. 5 flashed with the AX update and now it seems like it is shifting different and getting more mpg.

Yes ,it seems that they could. I am wondering if an yexcessive wear has been caused to mine because of the numerous premature "oil change required" lights popping on every 1500- 2000 miles. and yes the oil was sooted up terribly..... looked almost like chocolate pudding when it came out... . mopar dpf oil... . lifetime free oil changes at the dealer. I am positive they can fix my truck, but they should have already done so in 15 attempts... ... I really did not want to lemonlaw but had run out of options. When my truck runs good it is an incredible experience but it does it at random and I guess I would have to say for 16k miles it has run at 40% power and I had no clue as to what kind of power was lurking there until the other day, I felt a surge and just sort of wanted to feel it out and went ahead and floored it ..... holy smokes it spun the tires... then again as it shifted into second... ... no spin in third but Oh my god this thing was like a rocket..... It was so powerful, I know that it was not designed to do this... it was violent ... I stopped and did it again... . and again. then it went back to running the same old way it always has just sort of blah. I know now when I get a good one it will be fun to drive..... not just ho hum... and no more fear of being stranded and dealing with taking it to the dealer all the time.

With the G30 recall plus the total replacement of the EGR Valve, Cat and the DPF the engine does sound more like a diesel and the milage has slowly climbed back up. However running around town the milage is worse. The engine is much more responsive in all stages. There is no smoke, ever, there is now no burnt rubber smell on shut down, or at any other time. When all is said and done, this is where it should have been on day one. Yes the oil is black as coal, yes it still has a shine to it. The Active Regen cycle lasts about 15 minutes. The Overhead console milage readings are much more responsive to the driving condition or style. There are some fueling issues which could be resolved with better and finer fuel filtration with air separation which will be my next mod. I have added by pass Oil Filtration as a means to reduce the heavy soot contamination. As to the rest of the truck, the only other problem developed at about 60,000 Km and is now being replaced is the HVAC unit, the motor appears to run slower and the quality of heated air has reduced (Warranty item). In all I am very pleased.

haven't had any issues with my 07. 5. it has been awesome. it only has 1900 miles on so i dont have too much to go off of, but i did finally get the g30 done yesterday. and its first oil change. i've had it since November. it just sits in the garage.

Just hit 103,000 today, and the truck runs better today than it ever has!!!

That's good news. Yours is the second 6. 7L I know of with reported mileage in excess of 100k. EB, an oilfield hotshotter down near Houston had about 120k on his the last time he reported his mileage. He probably has 125k on his '07 3500 cab and chassis by now and also reports no problems.

Thanks for reporting good news.

Well I had an odd DTC code today, P2457 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooling System Performance. At first the EGT rose to 1050 from the nominal 960. a little while later the EGT dropped to 700 and the milage increased from a nominal 19 MPG to 21 MPG measured.

I too have a burnt rubber smell on shut down, but cannot find any info on it. Where could it be from?
