How bad have you hurt your rig... and still been able to keep drivin' it? 5 brothers who live in southern Utah, deliver alfalfa for my horses about twice a month. All drive dodges of various (diesel) vintages. Parley has a green '2000 3/4 ton Quad-cab 4X4. 2 months ago he showed up with 5-tons loaded in a rather ugly fashion on his gooseneck and the truck looked like he had driven it through a tunnel that was 5 feet wide. He said he swerved on the freeway and rolled his truck-n-trailer over. He called a tow-truck which flipped him back up... They reloaded the hay and arrived at my doorstep non-the-worse-for-wear. He slapped a new bed on and put on a new drivers door-n-mirror. Replaced the windsheild and left the rest as-is. Insurance paid it off completely but he's gonna keep drivin' it. Doesn't look purdy but it hauls-hay and it's paid for! And he's not worried about impressin' the women with it. Friday nights he just parks it and drives his '78 LeSabre, which looks even worse! #ad

I slid my '94 gasser on it's side for about 100 ft in a ditch back in '96. The tow truck wouldn't pull me out til the cops got there. After they showed up, the tow truck pulled my back on my wheels and out of the ditch. I drove the truck home that night with one arm out the window to keep the door closed since it didn't latch anymore. $3000 dollars later i got my truck back good as new. These Dodge trucks sure can take a hit.

I haven't seen any other Cummins trucks beat up too bad,but my grandmas' next door neighbor has a '96 2wd reg cab Cummins and he leaves it for his kids to drive to high school. It's been in about six accidents and everytime I see it it looks worse.

Well what happened to me today is nowhere near as bad,but I'm still pissed off. #ad

I was on my way to practice in Tacoma and somewhere on I-5 someone dropped a load of carpet. I swerved to go around it but two pickups in the other lane kicked up another big piece of carpet in the road... I smacked straight into it. It was a pretty heavy piece, but it didn't dent any panels. Rather it scratched the bumper, hood, fender, driver door, quad door and bed all pretty bad. I didn't see who dropped the load, but the scratches are not gonna buff out,it's gonna need to be painted. Needless to say,my truck entered it's last show last saturday.

Got one in the driveway that didn't make the test ... but it saved my life ... decided to become a tree hugger, damn thing... hit tree directly in front of my eyes, burried it about two feet into the front end to the outside of the motor... I'm still recovering but I am alive !!!!

Willyslover, I know what you mean about the truck saving a life. My uncle that owned the 94 gasser before me piledrived it into a tree at 40 MPH. Even though the air bag didn't go, off he still walked away. The truck hit so hard the front fenders were wrapped around the tree. Had to jerk it off with a chain and another Dodge truck. Even after that, they were able to fix it. I'm beginning to think that truck was jinxed because the guy that bought it from me finally totaled it out 3 months after he bought iti

MikeR... I was very sad to hear about your Ram. Too bad, but they can be fixed and replaced.
You were much luckier than willyslover. He still hurts from what I've read. Find a good bodyshop and let them have at it... . in the meantime, enjoy the fact that it could have been much worse. If ya need something, let me know.

Hey Mike, sorry to hear about your Ram. #ad
Look at the positive side, at least you weren't hurt.

Try Thoroughbred Auto body in South Auburn. They are one of the best body shops in the Northwest.

and my RAM didnt drive back home due to radator/intercooler problems, and the tierod broke due to the floorboard on the car. And it was the middle of the night, and the lights were on the road, instead of aimed at the road.

Hey Jff24Gordn... . I can't believe they left the guy laying in the car!! How long he been in there? Can't believe them fire-fighters!!

Hey Mike,

Major bummer about the carpet encounter #ad
. Hope you find a shop that will get you fixed up like new (and have an insurance company that is good to work with). Seems like some of us NW BOMBers have been having our share of body/paint damage maladies #ad

Friday I was waxing my truck and found a door ding. I thought I was mad!!! Must have been caused by a lifted 4x4, the dent is high up on the side of the bed. That stirred a little emotion so I can hardly imagine how you feel #ad
:mad #ad

When I first ordered my '98 ( I cancelled two weeks before delivery due to 24V engines coming out) there was a guys buying a new Cummins in the dealership... . he got rolled over due to high winds while towing a huge 5th wheel travel trailer. He said the trailer took them and flipped them over. He said he and his wife and granddaugher were just fine, but does remember sitting upside down and having to shut the motor off! #ad

Hey Jeff... Question: did your air bags go off in the collision??? Did you get the obligatory air-bag carpet-burn on your face??? Just wonderin' at what speed the bags go off. Did the bags make a difference?

Well, that dead body was dumped there by the mob after the wreck to dispose it in the crusher.
Yes, the bags went off. No carpet burn, didnt even bend my glasses. Im glad it went off, but it wasnt needed. I was going 20-30mph. But it did leave dirt on my shirt that wouldnt come off. It also makes you very thirsty from all of the dusty smoke. Also i only had 1 little bruse on my right wrist from the sterring wheel center flyin off.

Jeff... is your rig fixed yet? How does it drive? Straight? ( Dodge straight?... it's a relative thing... you know how these rigs wander even before they're hit #ad
