I'm in the Quest for 500hp with a single in a ETH shouldn't be too hard right! Apparently for me it is. Truck is healthy but can't get by the 468hp mark here's the story. Last year with a new Htb2 62mm turbo and BD4's there was good power and not bad smoke from the honed injectors so I went to some 150 EDM's and picked up quite alot of smoke and higher EGT's so I figure I needed a large single right.

Well I changed exhaust to 5" and no increase then changed turb to a HTB2 Killer 64 and lower the EGT's and gained alittle lag but Dynoed today and no horsepower increase only a Tq decrease because of the more lag. Spooled at later rpms on the dynos were all at the same dyno except for the first with the Honed injectors.

Hope I'm not scattering ya'll but what gives? Had plenty of fueal apparently (Smoke and Egt increase) so I added air and saw no hp increase. Could I have some not efficient Injectors? Gonna try some Jammer 5's 150hp and see if there is some change, need some M4's to try and see if they would make a difference. What gives several people say that 500hp with a Eth and 150hp sticks and the right air and a Drag Comp is feasable right? Fuel pressure isn't a problem and although I've never felt it slip could the OFE be limiting me?

Sorry so long Jared

dont feel bad i was lookin for 500+ with my set up but cant put down more than 438/875! :( im seeing 42 psi for boost. how about you? fp is at 15 at idle an 14 at wot.

Fuel pressure 20 at idle and can't drag down under 16, 45psi boost wastegated and it hits it, on 5x5 can get to 1550* on a hard pull, doesn't clear up smoke, still pretty grey at WOT not black thick smoke though. These dynos were on a Dynojet 248. No codesat all checked with a reader.

You are running out of air

What I'm under standing from this post is that you are limiting the boost to 45lbs with the wastegate,if this is the case, turn up the boost, you will gain two things lower EGTs and the air to burn the left over fuel, you will need close to 50lbs of boost to match the extra fuel to get 500hp.

Yes I would play around with the wastegate too. Have you thought of a water injection kit? Squirt some meth as well mixed in with the water for a little extra kick and cooling, as well as clearing up the smoke... .....

Yeah I have considered adjusting the wastgate to 50psi but was unsure if it would be less efficent. As for the Water/Meth. set up I need to fet my fueling issues figured out before I add Water/meth and I need o-ring and studs  I know pretty well about the fueling options and the motor itself I guess I'm trying to figure if my injectors are limiting me or the pump is petering out I suspect the injectors are not as efficent as I need but am exploring the other possible issues. I don't belive its air I think it's fuel related maybe a spray pattern or could be that I have a injector going bad or not up to speed with the rest. Then again it could be a bad muffler bearing :-laf Without a pac-brake could I be having issues with my IAT sensor? I replaced it once at about 50k ago? Any thoughts?

Thanks Jared

Third gens are a diffrent game but..... I dynoed 502 hp with my HTB2 64/14 wastegated at 40 psi. Temps on the dyno get up around 1400° but the smoke isn't huge. I didn't make a lot of torque (about 870 IIRC) but it stayed with me up to 3200 rpm to make a big hp number.

You will never know about any of these, issues until you give it more air. If you give it more air and you get a big jump in horsepower then the injectors are fine if you give it more air and you don't make any more power then you can start looking at fueling issues.

PM Diesel Freak. He's just over 500 with a single on his ETH.

Mach4's, HX40/16 (very overworked), Blue Chip 3wire box and an Edge EZ I think are his mods along with many many custom doodads.

How much power did the truck make stock? My 01 ETH makes 411rwhp with Jammer 4's, Jammer BB and no box. With the comp on 5x5, it makes 511rwhp.

It made about 350+ish with the injectors alone and 441hp with comp on 1x5 and 468hp with box on 5x5, the truck makes in the 220 range stock cause with a ez and rv's it made about 320hp. Alot of history has come up an I haven't added that Dodge replacve my short block about 12k ago but the truck feels the same as before and all the testing I have talked about has been on the new block except for the original dyno with the BD4's at 466 last Oct. at the Texas Rally on a load dyno. Then I also made 355hp with injectors alone and the smaller HTB2 62/12

Keith how does 125hp Jammers and no box with a turbo come out to 411hp what was yours stock? And what dyno a load or accel. ?

Huff N Puff I added the new turbo and got more air and there was no increase in Hp but a 175* drop in egt's at wot. Thats why I keep looking at fueling problems.

I am appreciateing all the help thanks to all.

Jared

Keith what gear did you dyno the Jammers in I did in 6th maybe that was the problem with the low injector numbers. The box on 1 shouldn't make a 90hp diff. ?

Jammer 4's make 125hp in a SO, ~140hp in a HO. Truck made 22x stock. Add the turbo and it's about right... maybe a little more responsive that most. We see a bit of variation there though. With Jammer 5's, it made 429hp.

Dynojet inertial dyno is all we use. Always 6th gear with this kind of power. You are correct, the box on 1 should make about 40rwhp or so. On 5x5 with a HO should make around 100rwhp.
