I took this picture last Saturday. The trailer has 175 bales of alfalfa/orchardgrass hay on it. No problems with power, even with a basically stock engine. Man, I love my Cummins!!!

How much weight?

That must be close to about 6 or 7 ton of hay? That's a pretty good charge for that truck. I hope to get a pic of my Ram pulling a load of round bales on a 24' gooseneck up soon... Happy haulin'.

I think the loaded trailer weighed in somewhere between 13 and 14 K. Next time I am not going to load the upper level over the bed. I think it put too much tounge weight on the truck. I guess learn as I go. Usually this trailer is pull by a '98 3500 Cummins, but my friend just loaned me the trailer this year. Dad and I put this load plus another 75 (250 total) into my friends barn in less than 1. 5 hours. I wore Dad out that day :)

Wow. Good pic. Missed a chance last cutting but hope to post one of our setup this month. If that's orchard grass mix, I bet you had 14k at least. We're mainly roundbales of Alfalfa & Orchard grass mix here in Maryland. Round bales cut down on the labor, but it takes a second row to reach the 14k mark. How'd the rear tires handle it?

Tires

I am running Daytona 10-ply 235/85R16 load range E tires (stock size) and have 80 psi air in the rear and 50 psi in the front. I had no prolems with tire sway or anything of that nature. The tires the truck used to have were Baja something or others and the were 255/85R16 load range D. Those tires would sway all of the time. I am glad I replaced them.

I am getting ready for 3rd cut of alfalfa and alfafa/orchardgrass and should get four cuttings this year. So far I have it all sold. I just wih I wouldn't have lost first cutting to rain. Oh well, that is farming.
