Anyone purchased the Haynes Manual from Geno's, what do you think. Are they worth the money, they are so much cheaper than the factory manual.

when it comes to manuels

you get what you pay for, and a good service manuel will pay for its self over and over again :)

Never seen the CTD Haynes manual but the other Haynes manuals I've seen seem to tell you to take it to the dealer anytime repairs get over the sixth grade level. The Dodge manual tells about everything you can do to the rig at a level that most anyone can understand.

I have both also.

If you are fairly mechanically inclined and wish to tackle most repairs yourself the OEM Dodge manual is the only way to go.

If you only wish to tackle little projects (brakes, u-joints, minor electrical issues, ect) the Haynes might suit your needs just fine.

just to be different... .

no honestly.

I have both too.

The FSM has a wealth of info. . but there are errors and I don't know about you but the printer never sent the updates to me...

I bought the Haynes on sale at my local Aid Auto store.

As mentioned by the other folks... . for basics and a quicker reference ... . I think it's better than the FSM. And it doesnt have the errors the FSM has. I've found two soo far. One being the T-stat. . cant remember the other I came across.

So I say you can't live without the FSM, but for 12 bucks... . the Haynes is a good addition.

Service Manual

WD,

I must agree to what others have said. Haynes manuals do not get into the specifics. If your'e a real gearhead like me, the FSM is the ONLY way to go. Check the classifieds. I ordered mine from a place out of Strongsville,Ohio called Dyment. Don't have the address or phone # with me now. It was about $110 bucks I believe. Check in the back pages of your owners manual if you have it. Good luck.
