On my 97 2500, they are two separate units just inside the fuse panel access (on the side of the dash with the driver's door open). They are silver and round. You can swap them and see if that solves your problem.

My 97 3500's is inside the cover on the left side of the dash inside the door.

there are 2 on mine 1 for TS, 1 for 4way. don't think they changed but could be wrong.

That is two votes for the little pannel on the dash for the '97's - but I'm still lookin' fer them on my '99.

Turns work fine - but the hazzards are DOA. :(

edit - I have the one blue square doo-dad in the LL corner of the dash panel - but it is not labeled on the cover as to what it is. Is this the flasher unit?

If so - has anyone ever had part of it go bad with the other part working fine?

Yes, and yes

The blue thing is the flasher. I had to replace it on my 2000, local parts stores showed the wrong one - they showed the old style. I ended up ordering it from dodgeparts.com and if I remember correctly, it was about $30

I killed mine due to a short in my trailer wiring. It wouldn't short enough to blow a fuse, so I left it on while trying to locate the problem and it killed the turn signal part of it - it got too hot and fused the contacts internally or something (it was HOT).

You won't find them on your model year 1999 Ram - you'll find it. You have an electronic combination turn indicator/emergency flasher module. The combination flasher is located in the Junction Block behind the fuse access panel on the left outboard end of the instrument panel.

The Trico EP27 is a direct replacement. The Trico EP27 will also work with LED's.
