Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Haze

I am getting a light haze of smoke all the time. I can see it in the headlights in the cars behind me. No matter how slowly i speed up It does not completely go away. I know someone has to have this same problem and the solution. I have also noticed a drop in fuel economy, aside from winter fuel. Might it be caused from low fuel pressure? Thanks

I get a haze until my truck warms up, about the middle between 140 and 190. . fuel economy is just winter blend. . I use the white power service additive to give it some more cetane, works good i guess heh

the timing will do it also, mine is set at 16. 5, what injectors do you have, the stock 215's? constant haze is a 370 thing i believe. .

I have stock injectors, the truck was warmed up. I think I might back off on the afc and see if that makes any difference.

When I ground my plate to a #100 profile, I slid my afc full forward, but didnt change the star wheel at all. As far as I know the pump was all stock prior to me , the black paint was still intact on all surfaces. . guess its just the difference between my puny 180hp injectors heh

Tweaking the AFC won't have any affect on it. It could be you are sucking air somewhere, a common place is a faulty fuel heater that's burned out or bad plug (when the heater fails it often burns a hole). Another thing is how do you drive the truck? Has it been driven lightly on short trips? Maybe it needs a good long, hard run. If I go light on my '98 for awhile it starts getting a little smokey, and can make a decent cloud when I stomp on it. If I run it hard awhile then it's clean at full throttle.

I think for now I am going to pull the snot out of the truck this weekend and see what happens. I don't drive this truck the way i need to and it kills me to see this truck not working. I also need to check fuel pressure and see if its where it needs to be.
