HD Brakes?

What is the difference between HD brakes and reg brakes? How can I tell if mine are HD. The reason I asked is because I was looking at brake pads on autozone.com and it asked for HD brakes or standard. Thanks

Well I'm no expert when it comes to stopping but.....



I think the regular pad are just organic fibre while the HD are a metal impregnated pad/shoe...

The HD one's can last much longer but also tend to squeal at any provocation, and are generally harder on the rotors and shoes than the regular ones... .



Just my . 02cents.

I think the heavy duty shoes are 3 x 12's and the regular are

2 1/2 x 12, the shoes listed for mine never fit, i always had th get the HD listed for a Dualy ... ... ... ..... Rick

Your brake cylinders pistons are 1" and HD are 1 1/8" in diameter besides the two different widths of the brake shoes.



If you install the larger cylinders you will have to bend the brake lines slightly.
