... I got the ARP studs and was down to putting in the long ones and found they were fine thread on both ends rather then the 12x1. 75 on the lower end. I also got one nut with no threads at all. Called ARP and will be getting replacements on Monday at my expense for shipping both ways. I can't believe they are charging me for the over night shipping when this is clearly their screwup (they are coving what ground would have cost). I told them this truck was my source of income and I needed the parts ASAP. ...

Wow, so much for customer service! Did you call Jeg's and explain it to them? Maybe there customer service will be a little better, and they will spring for the shipping.

I didn't talk to Jeg's. The shipping is not much but it's the idea that gets me. They should have volunteered to ship overnight at their expense to get the parts out to me ASAP especially after telling them that this truck is currently my source of income. I'm not done with them, I will leave a note in the box I return and if that does nothing I will probably call them. I should have the parts Monday IF the girl got them out like she said she would.

That sucks. Good quality Customer Service is a thing of the past in this country. It took a back seat to Corporate GREED.

They had to take . 012 off head to get the fire rings to clean up where the gasket had worn into the head.
Uhh... . What the heck is a Fire Ring ???

.

Fire ring is what the guy at the machine shop called the part of the head where the metal rings of the gasket makes contact. The head moves around from heating/cooling cycles and over time wears into the head some.

Head is installed and runs. I torqued the studs following the book sequence to 30, 62, 96, ran engine up to temp let cool for about 2 hours and line torqued to 110 using the moly lube supplied with the studs.

Good deal!

I babied the heck out my engine for the 1st couple of weeks. Took me that long to gain TRUST in it that is wouldn't BLOW UP again!

I hear that, every time I work on something major like this it takes me time to get used to it and fully trust it again.
