When I send my '94 truck w/315xxx, to get the head gasket changed what additional work would you consider having done inside the motor? Keep in mind that this is a daily driver I don't need a massive amt. of power! The shop that has done the needed work that I can't do has made a couple suggestions I would like the opinions of the TDR faithful! The motor has never been opened before I have owned it from day one.

Thanks

I would make sure it is checked for cracks, flatness, and while they have it, a valve job. Make sure they can resurface it to the proper smoothness.

I am going to get the head ported on mine while it is off. I hear that it reduces EGTs from 150-300 degrees and reduces the turbo drive pressure

From experience I'd say do nothing inside the engine. Make sure the mating surfaces are flat. Install new valve seals and HD springs if you are planning on a GSK. I doubt that a valve regrind is needed, but it won't hurt. Anything else is optional.
