Does anyone know the compressed thickness of the head gaskets... 12V and 24V should be the same. . and what are the differences between the 12 and 24V gaskets. . I know some of the 24V guys are using the thicking 12V gaskets. . but what mods have to be done. .

Thanks

Bryan

Compressed about . 060-. 062". The 24V has water pasages above the steel tabs to the outside of the 12V gasket on the pass side, so they can leak if you put a 12V gasket under the 24V head. The 12V gasket is available . 010 and . 020" thicker than stock.

You can purchase 12v gaskets that have been altered to fit the 24v with no problems... . Normally guys use the marine gasket in either stock thickness, . 010, or . 020 over.

Thanks guys. . what is the difference in the Marine Gasket??

I have a customer who is going to need O-Rings... but he doesn't what to go that route... I was going to try a Copper gasket without the O-Rings. . but after a little discussion with some others. . they haven't been much better than a stock??? I'm still working on him. .

I'm going on 2. 5 yrs on my copper gasket--knock on wood--of course there's some top secret stuff that has led to it's lasting this long also--I'm double oringed with receiver grooves and 12mm studs and the top secret stuff----it's all in the application--

if you get a 12v gasket you need to enlarge some of the passages--but it's better to get the ones already done like mentioned by Jetpilot---chris
