Over the past couple of days my head lights have been acting goofy. They either work or they don't ! The high-beams and driving lights always work . . it's just the low beams that are intermittant. I had a spare headlight switch but the symptoms didn't change.

Woke up this morning and the low beams work ! Any recommendations?

Don't know what year your truck is, but on my 95 the same symtoms were the result of a bad multifunction switch. Rather than replace it, I jumpered around the low beam contacts and then installed a relay in the high beam position.

This approach keeps the low beams on all the time much like the brite box does. The relay was added for the high beams to reduce the current load on the headlight switch when all lamps are on.

If replacing the multifunction switch truns out to be expensive, you might consider this cheap, but effective approach.

I thought that mine was a fluke! I converted my headlamps to the quads, with multiple relays, heavy duty wiring, etc. However, I left the low-beams completely stock. I find that when I switch from high-beam to low-beam on occassion, the lows don't come on--a quick toggle back and forth usually rectifies the problem. I would be a little nervous with the oncoming traffic, but I always drive with the fog lights on. I was assuming that it was the multifunction switch, but haven't had a chance to verify this yet. I bet that baby is real expensive!

P. S. Rog, you might have the best solution.

I am haveing the same problem, I switch from hi beams to low beams, and sometimes theres light and sometimes NO. The high beams have so far always come back with a pull of the leaver. But I don't think I like This game. Time to do something. I think I'll go with the relay,if I under stand how the do it after I get it apart. I have a 2001 HO 6 speed, If that makes any differance. Have not had it long, Just long enough to know I like it,over the Ford 6. 9 I had for 20 years. I'm new on the block, but I like what I see, I,ll keep reading, untill I understand for sure then I'll fix it. Thanks JGorman

not a relay problem need to replace the blinker stalk thats where the problem is. i had same problem about year ago when i bought my truck. thats definatly the problem

Mine did the same thing a while back. It was still under warranty. They replace the multifunction switch. Fixed said problem.

Opposite Problem...

I have the opposite problem. I can turn on the high beams, but they wouldn't turn off unless I turn the headlight's off completely and pull the headlight selector. When I turn the headlight's back on I'm on low beam.
