Pardon my ignorance, but do our vehicles have a warning buzzer that will sound if the headlights are on and you open the door? Twice recently I've walked away and left the lights on, first time took a heavy duty boost to get started, second time my wife spotted the lights on. I work night shift, leave work for home in the dark, daylight by the time I reach home and I'm sometimes 99% asleep by the time I park.
The 1983 Volvo I drove for >11 years had this, saved me a couple of times.
If there is a 'buzzer' where is it located?
Thanks in advance.

Ian, mine has the buzzer, buzzes for the key, parking lights and headlights. I pretty much have the same truck as yours.

Ian, the warning buzzer is also connected to the seat belts, the same one is used for several functions. It may be possible that it was disconected. It should be under the dash to the left of the steering column. It's a rectangular box with an 8 pin connector, only uses 6 wires. There is information for troubleshooting the warning system in the service manual.

Ian,
Good question, and I think you probably do have one, maybe just burned out or taken out by somebody else. I hated mine with a passion because it sounded for EVERYTHING #ad
. I found mine by sonar (turned lights on and open the door, then listend with my hands up under the dash to the right of my steering column), and promptly removed the offending piece of plastic. Gladly give you mine if you find yours is missing or broken. Email me your address and it'll be in the mail if you need it.

Good luck,
Ken

Ian, my 92 has that buzzer. I disconnected the plug for the seatbelt - found it was a real pain, when I am hunting and driving in the bush I never put my seatbelt on.

Ian, I've done the same thing more times than I want to admit. I looked once but didn't find the buzzer. At least I know where to look now! #ad
