Electrical bug for the month is now the hi-beams. I installed the LMC relay circuit a few months back and have been really happy. Went for a drive tonight, switched to hi-beam and head lights go black. Really don't think it is the relays, as I doubt they would both go out at the same time and I don't think the head lights would work at all if the auxiliary relays went out.

At this point I'm thinking it is the smart switch on the column. It is original and has seen a lot of use in 416,000 miles! Any thoughts?

Had the opposite problem. When I went from hi to low, they would go black. Replaced the multi function switch and the problem went away.

...with that harness the switch shouldn't be the problem .?

Unless it was a problem before going to the harness.

Texis, you said "relays", plural. You should have one relay for high and one relay for low. Swap the relays and see if the problem moves to the low beams. If not, I would suspect the H/L switch or the M/F switch.

This is probably not your problem but I had a similar problem. The highs would go off when switched on, then after a while they would turn on and I couldn't turn them off well switch them to low beam easily. Then the issue started on the low beams as well. Darn things wouldn't shut off. The headlights on an 01 are negative switched they have power all the time and the ground is switched. I had forgot about the brightbox I had put on years before. Couldn't find anything wrong swapped out the mf switch on the steering column and still an issue. I finally remembered the bright box (a little box that allows you to run high beams and fog lights at the same time). Unhooked it and all my issues went away. The electronics inside the little box were all corroded up. I guess all this to say to make sure and check all the grounds associated with the wiring for the headlights

I to had that same problem low to hi beam. Took the multi function switch apart and made sure there was good contact in there with every thing and no more problem. Contact was just not being made, when switched.
