Steering box upgrade question

My '06 head lights just looked like a couple of flash lights tape to the fenders. Now this week is the first trip with my '09... ... ... ..... same problem.

Conversely, my last two Toyota's could light up the road.

My question is... ... ... ..... has anyone done a bulb upgrade to get better lighting from out Ram trucks and if so, what do you recommend?

Well, I gotta do something. When you can ride for miles and the on coming traffic never asks for your dimmers, then you ain't putting out enough light!

How about HID lights?

I have the white HIDs for my head lights and fog lights. Love them.

(Almost) Can see a penny on the road.

I had to readjust the headlights in my truck - they were adjusted up too high. This made quite a difference in the amount of light shed on the road. I don't think they are as good as they should be - my wife's 02 grand cherokee has the best headlights out of any vehicle I have ever driven.

Barry, HIDs are high intensity discharge lights. They use a ballast and a diffrent gas filled bulb to achieve MUCH brighter lighting with lower wattage. That being said, ALL of the plug n' play HID kits end up scattering high intensity light in all directions and TOWARDS oncoming traffic. You will find yourself going from not being blinked at all to being blinked ALL the time,as the reflectors in our stock headlights do not project the light to where it is supposed to go and instead end up BLINDING oncoming traffic. You CAN use HID lights if you retrofit a complete HID projector lamp into your oem housing like several have done in these links. This gives you excellent forward lighting WITHOUT blinding oncoming traffic. I actually have an extra pair of oem headlights and a pair of hte highly regarded LS430 projectors tht I might get around to completeing some day, though please note that this retorfit is a fairly complicated process to do right!!!

In the meantime, after MUCH research here and on other forums, I decided to upgrade my bulbs to the HIGHLY rearded Phillips Xtreme Power 9007 and also did the simple DIY mode that a member wrote up that lets you safely run fog and high and low beams ALL together for bright forward lighting when there is NO oncoming traffgic, OR separately when there is traffic. I have been running the upgraded bulbs and modified switch for over a year now and am VERY satisfied with the results. You can also get a Bulbzilla wire harness kit form Genos that lets you use even higher wattage bulbs in your fog lights for even brighter close-up fill-in light.
