The last few days in the early morning my headlights wont come on . Its light enough to drive with out them so i take off and leave the switch on and eventually they come on. I tried them this morning before going to work taking another vehicle and they wouldnt work . When i got home in the late afternoon they worked . I have cycled the switch and dimmer alot and that hasnt helped . It seems to be temperature sensitive ,mid 40s in the morning. Any ideas ??

Next to the fuses in the side of the dash is a round relay or something and i noticed it was pretty warm this afternoon when i was fiddling with things but i had the ignition on for awhile so maybe it feeds something else . How much do i have to take off the dash to get to the light switch and are they available from any source other than dealer . My dealer closed up last month . Arnie

Second generation trucks are well known for bad headlight switches.
Once in a while my 98 acts up and I just cycle it two or three times and they come on.
There is info. on this board about this problem. Part of it is a weak switch, and if your truck has been hooked to a trailer with multiple running lights etc, it overloads and hurts the switch. It needs to be replaced. Also there is a fix to keep this from happening to your new switch.
Try doing a search on second gen. light switches.
Good Luck, Ray
