Leaving on the 2nd for Pagosa Springs, CO and later Fun Valley. How is the road over Wolf Creek Pass. I haven't been over it in 15-20 years. I ain't worried about the grade, just wondering about raod conditions. I never met a hill I didn't try to climb once anyway Oo. Oo. . My wife thinks that's the only reason I want to go there. For me getting there is all the fun! :D Oo.

it's fine these days... still seems like they're always working on it, but it's far from hairy... beautiful stretch...

I'm jealous, been itching to get up to the cabin... almost had a chance when they had me working in Denver, but they flew me out to Vegas on a moment's notice :(

but I'm gonna get up there for a few days in August come heck or high water!

we've got a cabin in Creede...

be sure and stop at the rest stop a little east of South Fork, they filmed part of Nat Lampoon's Vacation there. it hasn't changed a lick!

Wolf Creek is all four lane on the west side and about half way down the east side. Like you said, it is a fun pull. I was hauling some heavy Logging Equipment back and forth to Del Norte in 1990 with my CTD powered Ford and lost overdrive in the Brownie on the first steep switchback going up the west side. I was pulling 3rd gear in the main box, not shifting, just a hard dead pull when she let go, 'shure did stop quick! Thats a nice place this time of year.

Wolf Creek Pass is ok now, go thru there in the kenworth a lot. Fun Valley is a wonderful place you will enjoy. Go there every year with the 5er, but not able to this year (I'LL BE BACK NEXT YEAR) P. S. Wish I was there and out of the TX heat!

We were in South Fork, CO, on the east side of Wolf Creek Pass, a couple of weeks ago. Yes, as others have said, there is continuing construction on the road and delays on the week days up to about 30 minutes. If you want to avoid the delays, cross over on the weekend.

We haven't been to Fun Valley in many years, but it's a great "family oriented" place to take the kids.

I was down there about a month ago heading to Cortez. At that time no construction going on. They finally finished the new tunnel approaches and was glad not to have to wait for 20 minutes or so. Like I have had to so many times the last couple years. They had been working on the highway right there by fun valley all last summer but it seems to be finished. Doesnt suprise me that they started construction back up. If they can widen it between fun valley and the tunnel that will make the east side quite nice. The west side is already pretty good aside from needing a resurface in parts on the west side. Also treasure falls has been flowing really great. Not sure if it still is now but was really ripping when I was through there last.

If you plan on doing any hiking up high be prepared for snow. Last weekend was up doing a section of the colorado trail and thank goodness for the GPS as the trail was still covered deep in snow at about 10800 up to treeline. Had to make a significant reroute. Above treeline no problem with snow and easily passible. Below that was no problem either. The only bad areas were north facing slopes just below treeline snow drifts still over 10 feet in places where we were and in between the drifts the snowmelt caused some very soft conditions and some ankle deep sinking in the tundra like ground.

As others have said it will be a great time and weather should be great.
