I have 2003 CTD 4x4 SLT, 20k miles. I bought it used at 15k miles and love it. My first diesel.

I have a strange problem that started about a month ago. When I start it up when it's cool at night (after work, around 6pm), I let it warm up for about a minute and then turn on the headlights (low beams). Within about 5 seconds, the headlights flicker between the low beams and the fog lamps (i. e. low beams off, fog lights on, low beams on, fog lamps off... fast flashing between the two sets of headlights). When I pull out the light switch to turn on the fog lamps full time, the problem stops. AFter the engine is warmed up after driving it a few miles, I can turn off the fogs and there's no more problem. Has anyone else had this problem?

I took my rig to Desert Dodge here in Las Vegas last week for recall notice (transmission cooler line) and told them about it. They hadn't heard of this problem so I suggested they flash the PCM. They say they did it but the paperwork doesn't show it and I still have the same problem.

A friend suggests that I disconnect my negative battery cables for 12 hours, then put them back on... that this will reset the computer or at least reboot the system.

Any thoughts?
