Old Cars gone????

Here is an interesting article put out by the NHTSA dealing with headlights and glare. It starts with a background of headlight development from kerosene, the first tungsten lamps, halogen, and HID. There is even a section that mentions our Dodge Ram headlamp placement is designed to be low and it can compromise the truck for its off road capability.

The article is a little long but there is a lot of good info if you are thinking about adding lights or trying some of those blue bulbs.

Thanks for posting this timely information, Dave. It's a frustrating problem, particularly with those who have a 'don't-give-a-(hoot)-for-the-other-drivers' mentality. IMHO, headlight aim and ignorant use of factory-installed auxilliary 'fog' lights particularly require addressing.

I once was told that in certain middle eastern countries it is quite common for drivers to operate with their high beams on all the time, so that they may be more easily seen by oncoming traffic... ...

This might be better posted in the Products/Accessories forum and should be required reading.
