Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Oil Pressure ???

I installed the Summit kit and have been pretty happy with it. I had put in the Sylvania Silverstar bulbs (taking note of some comments that they seem not to last long). Well, on my truck that seems to be the case, BUT... . after getting into the bulb replacement, I'm thinking it may not be the bulbs.

Here is where I need a little advise as to where to look next.

I stopped in the driveway after about an hour and a half interstate night dirve and "poof" the lights went out. Well, I was at least home, so no biggie, turned the light switch on and off a few times, still only got running lights. Also,no brights or dims.

So into the garage the truck goes and when I pull the bulbs, the passsenger one had exploded. drivers side bulb looked OK. Checked all the fuses, saw no issues with the fuses.

I bought some GE Nighthawk bulbs to replace the Silver stars.

I installed the passenger side bulb only first. Turned on the lights, the passenger side was very bright on both brights and dims, but the passenger side was very DIM (but the bulb is lit) on both brights and dims.

So, I figure, OK, install the other new GE bulb on the passenger side. I do this, and the situation is the same. Passenger side light is very bright, drivers side is very dim (but lit)... .

I can hear the relays in the Summit harness clicking when I turn the lights on and when I go from brights to dims, so they seem to be working.

I did notice prior to the bulb exploding that when driving with the brights on, it appeared that at times I had "a lot more bright" than at other times... . based on what I am seeing now, it must have been the drivers side bulb "kicking in and out"... ...

I am thinking that the fact that the passenger side bulb is very bright may have been the root cause of the bulb exploding as well, but based on the passenger side sometimes working and sometimes not working, that may not be the case, it might have been a fluke.

Anyone have any ideas why one light would be bright and the other dim? Or what might cause it to work sometimes and not work others? I'm stumped, any help would sure be appreciated. I hesitate to take the truck out at night until I have this sorted out.

Thanks it was the ground as you suspected. I have two bright headlights now... very nice :)

Another question, for good measure, as long as I wsa digging into the lighting, I decided to install the new light switch and overlay harness per this procedure:

http://dodgeram.info/tsb/recalls/819.htm

The question is where does the third wire from the overlay harness (the one that already has a connector on it) connect? To the extra tab sticking out the back of the new switch???

Never mind... . I found it:

6. Connect the single wire connector from the overlay harness to the ground terminal on the headiamp switch assembly (Figure 10).
