My 93 W350's marker lights, tail lights and dash lights all went out today. I checked the fuse and all is OK, The horn which is on the same fuse still works. I tried to trace some of the wires here and there and the spaghetti mess has me frustrated. Should I try changing the switch first. Please advise. Thanks.

A switch is relatively cheap and easy to change. First thing to look at would be the light switch plug. If it is crispy (burnt) then a new switch and possibly a plug would be in order. If you tow a lot with a trailer that has a lot of lights you may also want to re-wire and add a load relay.

Is the breaker bad ? Ive had the head lights on my 92 go out and come back on after i shut them off and pulled them back on its done it a few times but worked with no fail for a long time afterwards never could figure out a reason .

Head lights work fine and I did the trailer light relay thing when I rebuilt the truck a couple of years ago. I have an old switch in parts and will try it. Then order a new one if all this works. Thanks for the help.

I went to the dealer several years ago for a switch. They wanted an unbelievable price for a 93. I asked about one for a 94, as there was a thread about switching them and a couple of color wires that were different.

The 94 switch was less, but there was a switch upgrade kit for a 94 that included a relay, wire extenders and a plug end. The kit was cheaper than just the switch. Sorry I don't remember the part number.

If all else is too expensive you can get a cheap switch for about $20. It would tell you if that was the problem.

I didn't get a chance to look at it this weekend. Where is that fusible link? On the fender well on the drivers side. I see a few there. Which one is it? Thanks for all the help. I'll figure this out this week I hope, Almost inspection time.

I had some time to take a look at the switch yesterday. We had a weekend Christmas party and many relatives spent the night. None of them get up in he morning and the shop was still warm and I was looking for a place to hide. Anyway that bugger was a pain to get down far enough for my little farmer hands to get a grip on the clips. I finally got them off, examined the switch and found no burn signs, then put the used switch I had on. Very happy to see the proper lights come on when I reattached the battery. Thanks for the guidance. I also replaced an axle ujoint in preparation for the snowstorm that is not coming anymore. Had to be done.

Glad to hear it is working!

Also for those that may read this thread in the future, if you can, get a good condition factory headlight switch from a wreckers and not a new one from NAPA, Autozone etc. I did that for the crew cab and noticed the cheapness of everything on the brand new one. I never did use the new one. I have it still sitting in a box on my parts shelf. I got one off a wrecked truck. The old ones are much beefier. Just make sure to put a relay in if you want it to live a long life! WAAAAY to much juice going through it if you have more than the factory lights!
