me too

I'm waiting too. Planning an alcan/cassian trip for the summer and would love to have some good lights for the adventure. they look cool  too.

keep us posted

Dad was complaining about the headlights on his '98 the other day. I told him to hold out for a few months and sent him an email with pictures of this conversion. He's pretty much sold on it... only took about 10 seconds. :D

I'm expecting some vital equip. to arrive this week. (the only downside to living in Alaska) The tools are necessary for forming the frame around the lense.

I have the powder coating lined up and the wiring harnesses covered.

Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? :D

Matt - patiently waiting

P. S. Let me know if you need any beta testers... I own 2 second Gens!

Thanks for all the interest AND patience!!!

I'll have everything worked out by next week hopefully.

I 've had to make some changes to the design to make them practical for folks to install.

It is one thing to make a set for a one time install, and a whole nother animal to send them out to people that don't have access to various tools.

I'm working out the prices, they will be expensive, mostly because of the costly components. I've spent a lot of time researching sources for the necessary components and have narrowed it down to the best sources.

Again thanks for the input.

Bob... I've got Xenon headlamps with the ignitors etc... by appearance it looks like you used a projector for this conversion... . is it deep enough for a Xenon bulb? I may be interested if I could make a Xenon unit fit. I like the fact that you can see the projector and the clear lense.

I have pics of my setup on my sig. I really really like the Xenon's.

Josh

Josh,

I can fit the HELLA xenon modules, in fact the best option would be the bi-xenon,but they are SUBSTANTIALLY more money. They would be easy to fit as they are incorporated (both high and low beam) into one module.

Comparing the halogen Hella modules I'm using now, to the xenon lights on my wifes VW Touareg, there honestly isn't a great amount of difference, especially considering the cost.

The downside to retrofitting xenon(HID) bulbs to the factory housing is that you still have the lousy reflector that is extremely inefficient, no matter how much light you put thru it.

The projector low beam HELLA and the freeform high beam HELLA are very efficient in their use of the light and are self contained and don't depend on the housing for directing the light.

I imagine that you could modify the back of the Hella modules for use of your conversion bulbs.

Bob

I've already done the Xenon conversion with my truck. I'd like more the look of the projector and the clear lense. Mine are Bi-Xenon... which I have found I don't need the high beams very often.

What would it run for the headlamp assemblies?

Josh

PS... the pic... the regular bulbs are 100W Off Roading lights. The headlamps are my Xenons.

The other pic is my projector unit that I retrofitted in..... basically I cut the back of the headlamp assembly out... and bolted the projector in... . Crude. . but they work Awesome!
