I noticed this the other night coming home from work with my headlights on. I switched to bright and then back to low beams and they did not come on. So I flicked the switch back to high which worked and then back to low and they then worked. Could a switch somewhere be going out?

Thanks,

James

You may need a new multi-function switch (P/N 5269377 SWITCH, Multifunction)

Twelve volts is always applied to one end of the bulb filaments, Your headlight switch is doing its job of providing ground for the headlamp circuit. The multi-function switch "decides" which of the bulb filaments is hooked to that ground. The multi-function switch is where the "break" in the circuit occurred.

Your headlight switch is okay.

Before you buy a switch, see if adjusting the steering wheel tilt through its extreme positions has any effect on the "no lights". Some on this board have reported loose connectors/broken wires at the multi-function switch.

I had a similar problem while traveling in the cold weather. I decided not to use the high beams until I could get it checked out. I drove from the cold weather into warmer weather and the problem went away. There must be something in the relay/switch that is temperature sensitive although I have never heard of this before.

Thanks for the info guys. Yes it has been COLD lately with temps at night in single digits this week. Right know its only 6 outside with a nasty Great Lake effect wind and snow.

Anyway thanks!

James
