What's a code P0100 mean?

How often should power steering fluid be changed?

I was stuck in traffic on Rt. 66 and noticed that I couldn't see the reflection of my headlights in the car in front of me. I messed around with the high beam stick and got it to work. Has anyone else had this problem? I imagine it's a short in the steering column some where. How would you fix this? I guess I won't be able to push of buying the manual any longer.

Thanks for any input.

Headlights

probably the dimmer switch. Had the same problem with 89. Lights would go off sometimes when I hit bump in road. The dimmer switch is located on the steering column just below the dash. Mine was just too high, I loosened the screws (5/16") and slid it down a little and had no more problem. PS If you have to remove it, try not to let the actuating rod fall out. If it does fall out, it can be re-inserted without dismantling the steering system. Also, if you do any extensive work in that area it would probably be a good idea to disconnect the batteries to prevent air bag deployment. bg

Had the same problem. Was a short wire and contact pulled out of large connector block on steering column. Wires sere also rubbed down to to metal, insulation on wire gone. Had to replace connector block on steering column due to latch broken in block.

Wires were TOO short and didn't allow for steering wheel tilting. A real manufacturing defect, no strain relief in wires.

Good luck.

Thanks for the advice.

Shovelhead,

Where did you get the Line-X done? And if you don't mind me asking... how much?

You close to FFX?

Line-X

Rocket ,

I had mine done at a shop called Line-X Effects near the tank farms in Newington. I don't remember the exact price, but it was about $300 cheaper than the price quoted by Ourisman Dodge.

The guy that did mine says that his shop handles ALL of Ourisman's Line-X spray in liners, so I saved myself some bucks.

BTW they did a really great job on my over-the-rail liner.

I'm near Sycamore Street in Arlington.
