Hi all,

Well we are on the road in St. Louis and found out last night we have no headlights.

I can pull the Hi-Lo arm back and both lamps come on, but they don't stay on.

I have no low beams or high beams. It feels like the switch inside the steering column is the problem, and my wife reported she lost lights once and had to flick the arm several times and they came back on.

Anyone have any experience with whats involved here or go to dealer?

Thanks,

DC Miller

If you have tilt steering, try moving it up and down with the lights on, and see if that does anything. May be a broken wire in the harness going up the column. Check your fuses in both the PDC and the cab panel. If still no lick, time to pull the covers on the steering and take a look at the turn signal switch assembly. You may want to disconnect the batteries before you do this. Yellow wires = Air Bag = POP. . HISSSSSSSSS... AW I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER!!

If it isn't the switch, it could be the relay but they usually just quit working in one position. I'm not sure but I think the switch can be changed with a phillips screw driver.

Headlight switch

I don't know if the 98 and 95 dashes are the same but my 95 was doing the same thing, I found out it was the headlight switch when smoke started coming out around the dash.

Where is the headlight relay located?

My 96 just developed a headlight problem this evening - lights are permanently on in the high beam position - whether or not the headlight switch is on.

I've pulled the fuse for the moment, would appreciate any guidance.

Thanks
